Broken Shed Vodka Wins Gold Medal in 2019 International Review of Spirits® Competition
Southport, CT – The Beverage Institute, an industry board founded in 1981 to recognize excellence in the spirits industry, awarded Broken Shed Vodka with a Gold Medal and a 90-point rating for “exceptional style and distinction” in its 2019 International Review of Spirits juried panel competition.
Broken Shed Vodka is an award-winning international vodka distilled by Broken Shed Distilleries, Inc., in New Zealand, with North American headquarters based in Southport, CT.
“Ten years ago, Broken Shed was born in the mountains of New Zealand. We have always known Broken Shed was special,” said Mark Simmonds, Master Distiller of Broken Shed Vodka. “It is rewarding to see more and more industry experts, aficionados, and consumers alike recognize the exceptional drinkability and exquisite character of this one-of-a-kind vodka.”
Industry insiders took notice at the 2019 International Review of Spirits, where the panel praised Broken Shed’s flavor profile as a “creamy, balanced vodka; smooth as silk” with “aromas of fresh cream and a hint of fresh fennel with a supple, crisp, dryish light-to-medium body and a medium-length cream puff and powdered sugar finish.”
This gold medal for Broken Shed Vodka follows similar accolades, including a Platinum Medal in the 2017 SIP Awards, Double Gold in the 2017 WSWA Exhibition & Convention Tasting Competition, a Gold Medal in the Los Angeles International Spirits Competition, and a glowing 91-point rating from Wine Enthusiast.
“On behalf of Broken Shed Vodka, I would like to thank the Beverage Institute for the recognition and the organization’s continued commitment to excellence,” said Sam Brown, Executive Chairman of Broken Shed Distilleries.♢
International Review of Spirits® – “America’s Oldest and Most Influential Spirits Competition”
The Tastings International Review of Spirits Competition is the most authoritative, most consistent, and most influential annual spirits review in the United States for the last 20 years. Unlike other “weekender” spirits events, our spirits competition was the first comprehensive, annual international spirits judging ever held in the United States. Throughout the year, Tastings-Beverage Testing Institute invites select members of the trade to join them as panelists in blind tastings of specific categories of spirits. Spirits producers and importers, large and small, from around the world and across the country participate in our ongoing spirits competition because they know that BTI conducts the most objective, consistent, and widely respected spirits reviews in America.
