*So, who's this guy?
You might've noticed this curious creature peaking through the ferns—perhaps you mistook him for a lizard. He's not, but that's okay, we're here to explain. What you're looking at is a Tuatara. Just like Broken Shed Vodka, they're unique to our different world, New Zealand. Despite their close resemblance to lizards, they're part of a distinct lineage and are the last survivors of an order of reptiles, Sphenodontia, that thrived in the age of the dinosaurs. Yep, these guys are as ancient as the aquifers that our one-of-a-kind water is sourced from.
The name Tuatara is derived from the Māori language and means "peaks on the back". Learn more about the Tuatara here.
