Our Philosophy

We take our inspiration from our home: Wānaka, New Zealand.

It’s a refreshing escape from the rest of the world. So naturally, our vodka should be a refreshing escape from all the other vodkas out there.

It’s a place of adventure and character. So naturally, every sip of Broken Shed should inspire good times and good stories, and quench your thirst for discovery.

How to make Broken Shed Vodka

As with most good things, the way we make Broken Shed Vodka is simple.
Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s easy.

Start with ancient, mineral-rich aquifer water from New Zealand’s South Island
Blend it carefully with filtered spring water from the mountains of New Zealand's North Island
Then add to it a unique spirit borne from whey, so pure it only needs to be distilled three times

And that’s all you need to do. No additives, no overdistilling (to celebrate our whey's unique character), just the highest quality, most pure New Zealand ingredients perfectly combined each and every time.

Your First SIP

Try it neat, and not too cold.

We're not ones to make rules (actually we're more likely to break them). Your first sip of Broken Shed can be however you like. But if you want our recommendation, try it neat and not too cold. Or prepare it with a simple citrus garnish as shown below. That first taste will be full of its true flavours and purity. After that, you’re ready to shake or stir it into any cocktail of your liking. Let your spirit shine!

Tasting Notes

Nose: An initial pure hit of dominant vanilla aroma, dissipating into a subtle blend of citrus and notes of freshly-cut southern grass.
Mouthfeel: A luxurious sensation that coats the palate and melts away seamlessly, leaving a smooth yet subtle lingering on the side of the tongue.
Palate: Butterscotch vanilla notes come to the forefront, dissolving into a peppery and bittersweet (yet smooth) taste on the back of the tongue.
Finish: Smooth, with a touch of warmth. You’re left with a delightfully pleasant yet concise lingering of flavour on the palate.
